Motivation Mondays: Epic Wins & Historic Fails — How to Support BIPOC Women Founders Following the SVB Collapse & Asian America After Oscar Wins
“Genius emerges from the collective.” — Director Daniel Kwan, Oscar Winner, Everything Everywhere All At Once.
This week on Motivation Mondays: Two BIPOC women founders to support after the SVB collapse, a masterclass example from Omsom on how to lead by example and with integrity during a crisis while staying on brand, and the state of Asian America after a historic win at the Oscars.
What a weekend. Last night, I watched the Oscars with an intimate group of women hosted by Naomi Ishisaka. We screamed, shouted, and groaned as the results came in. We commented on outfits. We braced to stay critically optimistic that EEAAO or Wakanda would take home the big prize. We also assessed what happens when all the stories that need to be told are told from historically underestimated voices and creators in Hollywood. The state of Asian America is diametrically different from the peak and historic win last night. I highlight a couple of stories below, from the personal to the national, of what it’s going to take to make the Asian American story more visible and more clearly a part of the American narrative.
